Hello, I'm Giorgio! I'm an Italian-Japanese teeneger for a love of traveling and exploring and most of all meeting and getting to know new people who are different from me. I'd like to describe my self as open-mindend and this is the reason why I think i'm the perfect candidate for this exchange program. The key to be able to live in a place distant from home and to live in a different enviromment with a different family is to be adatable. And I am that kind of person.

Student Letter:

Dear Host family

Hi! My name is Giorgio Kenta, and I’m really excited to stay with you during my time in the USA. I’m 16 years old and come from Milan, I’m half Italian and half Japanese (my mom is from Yokohama, and my dad is from Milan). Growing up with both cultures has been amazing, and I’d love to share some of that with you.

I’m super active and love trying new things all day long. I’ve been playing tennis and soccer for years, and skiing is like my second sport but I can’t get enough of it! I’m always up for an adventure, whether it’s sports, exploring, or just doing something fun. I really love traveling; it’s my greatest passion, and I hope to take a few little trips during my stay.

Another big part of me is my love for cooking and eating, I’ve learned how to make Italian and Japanese dishes, and I’d love to cook some of my favorite meals for you. It would be awesome to give you a taste of my two cultures. I’m also really excited to try American food and maybe learn some of your family’s favorite recipes!

During my stay, I’m really looking forward to experiencing life in the USA, learning about your traditions, seeing how you celebrate holidays, and being part of your community. I can’t wait to go to high school, join some clubs or sports teams, and make new friends. And at the same time I am always very kind and willing to help anyone. I have always dreamed of living life like an American so being actually able to live with you for a year will be a dream come true!

Overall, I’m hoping to have a great time, learn a lot, and build strong connections. I think this is going to be an amazing experience for all of us.

Thanks so much for opening your home to me! I can’t wait to meet you and start this adventure together.

Kind regards,

Giorgio Kenta

Hello, I am Mirko! I am the person, who is there for everyone and for everything. I get the call if somebody thinks his kid need someone who motivates it to do his or her homework. Can we talk about this and that, I am there for you, because I care. My favourite phrase is love your neighbour like you love yourself and I try to live like that.

Student Letter:

Hello my future Family,

I don't really know how to start this, because you probalby read a lot of letters like this which are almost the same. But I try my best to explain myself, the way I think and what I like.

First of all: I am seventeen and from Germany, maybe you know that already. I live in a small town and I have loads and loads of friends. I like every single one of them and I try my best to stay in contact with them. So why are you leaving? I want to take this wonderful opportunity to push myself, to learn many new things and most important to make memories. Memories I can't have here. Leaving the continent takes also for me some overcoming but nevertheless I think my time will be great. I also look forward to show you many things about our, or especially my culture.

I do lot's and lot's of sports here in Germany. More then most of my friends. Especially Volleyball is a big part of my week. There I meet some of my friends and we have so much fun during and after our training mesing around. Nevertheless we train to compete in the highest league at our age. On matchdays I am the leader and the person my friends love to talk to. In addition I train the younger kids even I just play since one year. The kids love me and always tell me what they have experienced next to the court, like what their plans for my weekedns are. Speaking of weekends, I do a lot with my friends if I don't have matches or I don't coach anyone. Often they come watching my games and afterwards we cook or just hang out.

I am open to everything and everyone and love to connect with people. Luckily I am an extrovertet person and I can talk a lot. Sometimes I maybe talk too much, so please stop me if I do so. I am a very fast learner and most people would call me smart. When it comes to school I can sometimes be lazy. That's probably my biggest weaknesses. After the school I am not lazy. Do a lot of extra work, for example jumping in for somebody or being a turtoring teacher. I love to hand over the knowledge that I have collected over the years. So I hope we can talk a lot either.

I will leave my club for one entire year, so I have the hope that I can continue training in america. I hope you are supportive to my training and besides that. I like to support others and sometimes I need support by others, even I am very independant and can solve most of the problems by myself. Here in my town we ride a lot of bycicles and I were also at the tour de france. I like to spend time with my familly a lot. Especially because they are all very intelligent and kind of rolemodels for myself. We are a small family but we stand together and face every problem that comes in our way. In america I will probably face completely new problems.

now I don't know how to end this :). I look forward to spend this year with you.

About:

Hello! I am Rasmus, a German high school student from Germany with a great interest in American culture and new experiences. I believe studying in the USA will provide me with an invaluable opportunity to gain a new perspective on life. I love doing sports with my friends outside like playing some Football or a game of Volleyball. I am a optimistic person and always ready for some fun.

Student Letter:

Dear Host Family,

I am writing to express my interest in participating in a year abroad. My name is Rasmus, and I am a fifteen-year-old 10th-grade student from Germany with a strong passion for exploring American culture and gaining new experiences. I believe studying in the USA will provide me with an invaluable opportunity to expand my worldview and gain a new perspective on life.

I come from a family of four-my parents, my younger sister, and myself-living in a suburban city in Germany. We also have a beloved dog who is an important part of our family life.

One of the main reasons I wish to study in the USA is to immerse myself in a different culture and educational system. I have always been fascinated by the diversity of American life, and studying in the USA would allow me to experience it. I am especially excited about the variety of sports offered in American high schools. I have been rowing for four years now, but I am also eager to try new activities, such as American football. I look forward to building new skills and making friendships with other students.

In my free time, I enjoy playing the drums, which I’ve been doing for quite some time. I also love meeting up with friends and listening to my collection of vinyl records. Music makes a big part of my life, and I find joy in discovering new sounds and artists. Beyond music, I consider myself a creative person with a love for art, and I often enjoy working on hands-on projects. I’m someone who likes to be handy, whether it’s fixing things around the house or creating something from scratch.

Additionally, I am excited to improve my English language skills. While I have been studying English for several years, I believe that living in an English-speaking environment will help me become more fluent and confident in my communication. This will be an invaluable asset for my future.

On a personal level, I am looking forward to the adaptability that living abroad will bring me. I am committed to embracing this experience, participating in school, engaging with the local community, and sharing my own culture with those around me.

Thank you very much for considering me as a candidate for this opportunity. I am eager to learn from your community and hope to contribute positively during my stay.

Sincerely,

Rasmus

About:

Hi, my name is Peter, and I’m an easygoing and friendly person. I like meeting new people, trying new things, and just having fun. I don’t have one main hobby, but I enjoy spending time with friends, watching movies, and exploring new places. In school, I don’t have any problems and keep up with my work. I like to stay open to new experiences and make the most out of every opportunity.

Student Letter:

Dear Host Family,

I’m really happy to be able to write to you! My name is Peter, I'm sixteen years old, and I'm from Warsaw in Poland. I can’t wait to stay with you, learn about your culture, and share things about mine.

I think I am a friendly, easygoing, outgoing, funny, and reliable person. I’m doing well in school and don’t have any difficulties with my studies. In my free time, I enjoy watching films, exploring new places, hanging out with my friends, and going to the gym. I’m also interested in learning about new things, like culture, which I find fascinating in the US. I’m always open to talking about anything and everything! I enjoy having conversations on a wide range of topics, because I'm curious about everything. I’m not focused on one main hobby, I enjoy exploring a variety of activities.

In your country, I would especially like to improve my English, learn about your culture, landscapes, food, and daily life. I’m very excited about it. I’m looking forward to spending interesting time with you and meeting new friends! I’m curious to learn about your high school system, the subjects you study, and the school culture. I’d love to experience your classes, join activities, and compare our education systems. I would love to connect with new people at school, build great friendships, and spend my free time together, whether it's gaining new knowledge, participating in activities, or just having fun and relaxing.

I’d be happy to share some fun facts about my culture. We have many interesting traditions, a rich and fascinating history, and delicious food. Polish cuisine is full of flavors, from hearty soups to sweet desserts like żurek or tartaletki. Our language is one of the most challenging in the world, but it’s also beautiful and unique. Poland’s culture is full of diversity and pride, and I’m excited to share it with you!

We also have a rich music scene in Poland, from classical composers like Chopin to modern singers. I’m really excited to share all of this with you, and I’m sure it will be a lot of fun. I’m sure we’ll have a great time learning from each other and discovering new things together.

I truly believe this experience will be an amazing opportunity for all of us to learn, grow, and share our cultures. I’m excited to get to know you better, share new experiences, and build lasting memories. I can’t wait to embrace this adventure, share what makes Poland special to me, and learn from you as well.

I’m looking forward to this amazing experience and can’t wait to meet you. Take care and thank you for considering me.

Bye for now!

,

Hi, I am Aura! I like to be with friends and draw. When you first meet me I can be little shy but when I get to know you better I’m really chatty and kind person. You can also be yourself when you are with me. When I finish high school, I will go to study to fashion school or something like that. I'm still thinking what I want to do in the future, but fashion designer is the career I would like to do the most.

Student Letter:

Hi my future host family!

My name is Aura and I'm 16 now. I can be a little shy first but with time I will become chatty. I'm intrested in fashion. I love to design and sew clothes. I don't have hobbies at this moment but I used to go to craft school. I studied there for 6 years and I learned a lot of hand craft. On free time I draw/paint, go to mall or I spend time with my friends. In winter I go to snowboarding. I would also like to go to snowboarding while I'm in USA because I don't want my skills get rusted. I also like ice-skating. I’m open-minded to try new things/hobbies, as well. I mostly prefer to do things/activities with other people. I like all seasons, especially winter and autumn because it isn't so warm then. I’m omnivorous but my favorite foods are tacos, chicken pasta and salmon soup. In my family there is my mom, dad, big brother and my dog. My family and I are very close, especially me and my brother. He's like a third parent to me. My the most favorite family activities are travelling, playing cards/board games and watching movies.

When I finish high school, I will go to study to fashion school or something like that. I'm still thinking what I want to do in the future, but fashion designer is the career I would like to do the most. Careers I have also thought about are nail/makeup artist or model. I want to learn more other cultures because some day I may move to another country. More I know different cultures, more easier moving there is.

I chose USA because I have been there once before and I loved being there. We will spend our next vacation in the US in February. I have been there only on a vacation so I'd like to experiense also "normal" life. I would like to experience different kind of holidays what we don't celebrate in my home country, for exaple Thanksgiving and Halloween. I really like Christmas because I can see the happiness on people's faces and I like the time we spend together. I can also share my own culture a little bit. I could cook some Finnish tradition foods and tell about Finnish culture and customs. I hope that when I speak English, please correct me if I say something wrong so I'll learn the best. One of the reasons I will come to exchange year is that I can get more fluent in English and of course to meet new people. See you in the upcoming fall! I can't wait to meet you all!

Best regards,

Aura
